Second Interlude (by: Darrin ©06/2005)
The young yet old man stood
at the side of the forest and watched the two of them set up their
tent. He was deeply concerned at the path she was about to choose.
He could sense that she was at a crossroads, but from the looks of
things from his perspective, she was going to choose the path the
young yet old man had not known would be available until
he had appeared.
He did not understand how he had.
The young yet old man shook his head and walked back into the forest where his camp was. At times it was a castle, other times it was a series of tents fit for an Emperor on campaign. On occasion it was a small wooden house where he spent time alone communing with his old yet young friend. Now it was the campaign tents, for soon the memories would return to Terence and he would be fetching the first of the Brothers. Well, the second now, as it appeared one had decided to make an early arrival.
The young poet reciter at the tavern would have laughed if he'd known who ended up being first and probably not as surprised as he was. Ah, well. Perhaps after he spends some time thinking, the young yet old man will solve the mystery. For now, he could not begrudge the girl her future. And the women who would follow. These Men were created by the Poem Reciter, his friend, whom no one could deny, least of all women of the calibre who were even now beginning to feel the call of the Village on the brink of creation. He chuckled wryly. Oh, the Adventures they will have! |
